Lin Xiatian was planning to look again, but the car door slammed shut with a 'bang.' Before he could react, the car window quickly rolled up, cutting off all visibility, and then merged into the vast flow of traffic, disappearing in a cloud of dust.
Gu Chen's gaze shifted from outside the car window. A momentary shadow passed through his deep, mysterious eyes. It was unclear what he was thinking, but his hand gently smoothed Su Nuo's messy hair.
"Darling?" Gu Chen lifted his chin to make Su Nuo look at him, and a faint smile played on his lips. "I've brought you a gift."
Su Nuo, who had just remembered that he was in the middle of a conversation with someone else and had forgotten to say goodbye before leaving, was immediately distracted by Gu Chen's words.
Gu Chen patiently waited for him to come back to his senses before adding, "It's something you like."
Su Nuo tilted his head in thought for a moment, and then his eyes suddenly lit up as if struck by a bolt of lightning. He asked in excitement, "Is it a puppy?"
He had always wanted to have a pet again.
The body of that little black dog had been handled by Gu Chen. Due to the gruesome wounds and some hidden reasons, Gu Chen didn't want it to hold any special place in Su Nuo's heart. He had kept it from Su Nuo and only took him to see it after it had been properly buried in the backyard.
Su Nuo had been depressed for quite some time because of this incident. He lost his appetite and even though he was already quite skinny, he seemed to lose even more weight.
Gu Chen felt incredibly distressed and had to coax him to eat more with every meal.
Even though Gu Chen had countless ways to control situations, he couldn't erase the shadow of that dog from Su Nuo's heart. In Su Nuo's mind, Gu Chen's current appearance couldn't compare to the little black dog that had captured all his attention.
So, he could only pamper and coax Su Nuo, and it took several days for his appetite to return.
Now, he had to check on the dog every few days.
If he saw a dog on the street that resembled the one named Mo Mo, he would look at it a few more times.
Gu Chen watched as Su Nuo, who had just been crawling all over him a second ago, searched for the gift with anticipation, even sticking his head under the seat and asking, "Where is it, Gege? Why can't I find it? Is it in the trunk?"
Gu Chen didn't know if he envied the dog or was jealous of his past self when he was just a dog.
Su Nuo retracted his head from the trunk and suddenly felt an inexplicable sense of oppression in the car. He turned around to see Gu Chen's lips slightly pursed, his eyes fixed on him.
"Gege? What's wrong?" Su Nuo tugged at the man's sleeve and blinked his round almond-shaped eyes, looking at Gu Chen with confusion.
Gu Chen kissed the dimple at the corner of his mouth, suppressing the overwhelming possessiveness in his mind, and the corners of his mouth curved to match Su Nuo's smile. "Nothing, I've already had it vaccinated. You'll see it when we get home."
Then, he lifted Su Nuo back onto his lap, adjusted the collar of his shirt to reveal more of his fair skin and slender waist, and held him tightly. Gu Chen asked in a low voice, "You really like puppies?"
Su Nuo nodded, "Yes, I do. Gege, don't you like pets? Cats and dogs are all very cute. Back then, it was because of that little black dog that I got to meet you. Animals have a certain spirituality; maybe it was specially created for us by fate."
After saying this, he wrapped his arms around Gu Chen's neck, gazing at him with round, expectant eyes.
Gu Chen kissed the dimple at the corner of his mouth again, and his lips curved into a gentle smile. "Gege likes them too."
As long as you like it, I will never let you down.
As long as you're happy, that's all I want.
Su Nuo gave him a loving "awoo" and kissed him enthusiastically, his face full of delight. "Big brother, you're the best!"
His sweet and affectionate tone was like music to Gu Chen's ears.
Gu Chen gently stroked his hair, self-deprecatingly smiling in his heart.
According to his usual style, he would never allow any uncontrolled factors to exist. All uncertainties would be extinguished in their infancy, and even the opportunity for them to arise would be impossible.
But he couldn't bear to do that. He couldn't do anything that would make Su Nuo unhappy. He couldn't bear to see him the slightest bit upset.
In this love, he was extremely humble, but he savoured it like sweet nectar.

i haven't actually read the previous 30 chapters, i just hopped onto the raws site i use and found the designated chapter and translated that. the raws had lin xiaotian though so i just translated it ..
does it make more sense if every time lin xiaotian was mentioned was switched with su nuo? also ive started reading this series, so no more errors like this will pop up i promise !!
