Hong Huang: What if I Hugged the Wrong Thigh? [chapter 11]

 "Xiao Gege, you're too kind~"

Yumei shyly leaned into the person's embrace, and the person did not refuse. Instead, he reached out and wrapped his arm around Yumei's shoulder.

"Ah!" The person suddenly looked pained, lowering his head in disbelief at Yumei.

Lifting her head in his embrace, Yumei's eyes revealed not a trace of shyness but instead a strange fierceness and triumph. If her suspicions were merely guesses before, they were now confirmed from the close contact. Close encounters allowed her to do things out of his sight, just like now—a sword thrust from behind into his heart.

"What kind of being are you?" Yumei took two steps back, speaking sharply.

The person clutched his chest, revealing a strange, sinister smile, and then transformed into mist, disappearing into the sky. He wasn't dead; it was just a transformation. This realization made Yumei more cautious; everything encountered here could be a trap.

Slowly walking on the island, Yumei attempted to break any barriers encountered. Perhaps, as the great one had said, Penglai Island had a connection with her, allowing her to pass freely.

At a pond, Yumei felt a calling and walked over slowly to observe if there was anything in the water.

There was no barrier on the water's surface, but there were no traces of ordinary fish or shrimp inside. Suddenly, a creature with wings flew out of the water, splashing droplets onto Yumei's skirt.

Observing the creature emerging from the water, it had a fish's body but bird wings, and it made sounds similar to Mandarin ducks. It stopped in mid-air, opening its wings and looking at Yumei. Seeing that it held no hostility, Yumei gradually let go of her guard and observed this species she had never seen before.

The Classic of the Mountains and Oceans detailed: At Mount Gui, the Meng River originates, flowing south into the Yang Sea, where there are many yellow shells. There is also a type of fish that has the body of a fish but the wings of a bird, and it makes sounds like Mandarin ducks. Wherever it appears, there will be floods.

This creature should be the Ying Fish, but this place is Penglai, not Mount Gui. Why would there be Ying Fish here? If there were Ying Fish, would there also be yellow shells? Was it truly a disaster-bringing beast?

"Can you understand what I'm saying?" Yumei asked, seeing that it showed no intention of attacking; it just looking at her curiously.

"Are you the Ying Fish?"

"Why are you here?"

Yumei's questions received no answers; it just continued to look at her, possibly out of curiosity. If it couldn't transform, it must have never left Penglai Island, and Yumei was probably the first "person" it had encountered.

Since she couldn't get any answers, Yumei continued to explore the island. The imposter from earlier hadn't died, so there must be other dangers on the island.

If the Ying Fish was truly a creature born on Penglai Island, it didn't look bad. Having it as a neighbor would be acceptable. Among the strange beasts in The Classic of the Mountains and Oceans, there were only a few that looked good. If a terrifying one appeared, who knows how to handle it. Being born on the island, it wouldn't be good to drive it away just because she didn't like it; being neighbors wouldn't harm her.

From the entrance, moving toward the center of the island, there was a location referred to as the back mountain. Yumei discovered a superior innate spiritual root named the Ink Jade Cold Plum. This tree blossomed once every hundred thousand years, bore fruit once every hundred thousand years, and took another hundred thousand years to mature. The tree produced a total of 108 fruits, and consuming one could grant a mortal an immortal Dao fruit and enhance the magical power and nourishment of an immortal's body and soul.

In terms of quality, the Ink Jade Cold Plum was no worse than the Pan Peach, Ginseng Fruit, or Yellow Midway Plum, among other top-grade spiritual rootsconsidered top-notch spiritual roots. It was one of the best among all the spiritual roots in the entire Hong Huang. Moreover, it had never appeared in Hong Huang before, likely growing exclusively on Penglai Island.
